Education has a performative aspect. This is a key lesson I learned during a course on theatre skills in education as part of my University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO). The teacher asked us to do something expressive that lies close to our heart and relates to our subject. I decided to sing a tragic ranchero love song from my Mexican hero José Alfredo Jiménez to open a lecture. My fellow teachers loved it and stimulated me to continue doing this.

Since participating in that course, I use my singing skills and musical roots sometimes to convey lessons by more than just strictly rational means. Recently, I started singing complicated definitions and adding this musical dimension to the Knowledge Clips that I make.
