In Sevilla I attended the preparations for the Semana Santa celebrations. They are known for a week of Easter processions with allegorical floats of biblical scenes composed of wooden sculptures moving through the streets. Weeks in advance I witnessed how groups of men from different neighbourhoods practise their drill and carry the adorned cart. Their bodily movements, stops and turns in unison with the music are carefully coördinated by foremen through verbal instructions and a metal knocker.
