Infrastructure Alive!
Art brings infrastructure to life. Five years after coloniser Portugal relinquished the Cahora Bassa dam to Mozambique (2007), dam engineers initiated these artistic projects. Artists from the ‘Factory of the Future’ (constructors of dreams) created a park-like mosaic that combines original stories and figurative patterns from the region with electricity poles and water bodies to illustrate how infrastructure connects the past with the future. Other art projects at dam sites are often launched at inauguration ceremonies when politicians open the works and unveil commemorative plaques for future generations.
